Disaster recovery specialist FalconStor today launched its first Continuous Data Protection (CDP) Virtual Appliance for VMware.
The new suite works with VMware ESX Server 3.x., and deployment should be extremely easy as the suite is supplied as a pre-configured and ready to run virtual machine, complete with it’s own operating system.

The suite works by monitoring both physical and virtual servers, and maintaining virtual machines containing cloned copies of those systems. FalconStor said advanced data protection technologies such as snapshots, mirroring and journaling enable administrators to recover a protected system to any point in time.

An optional replication module can be used to maintain off-site replicas to cater for disaster recovery scenarios.
