Windows Server 2008 lab tests
Lab Notes January 30th, 2008
By Roger Howorth

Windows Server 2008 really does promise to be the best version yet. For example, it includes the option of installing a system that does not include the Windows GUI, which should dramatically reduce the number of patches needed throughout the system’s lifetime. Also, new server roles make it easier than ever to configure a system to perform specific functions, such as working as a web server or file server.

Although the date is now so close, Microsoft has not yet released the final version of the software. However, Release Candidate 1 (RC1) is available, and we have started our testing with this version.

Over the coming days we’ll report our Lab Notes here to let you know how we get on…
